This year I'm participating in the Baker Artist Awards. If you don't know what it is, you can read a little bit about it here. Basically it's a competition for all kinds of visual, sound, and performance artists in Baltimore City. It's a way to gain exposure for us and celebrate the rich art scene here in Bmore.
I've made a page with all my 2D and 3D work for people to vote on. You only have to vote for an artist, not their individual work. To see my page (and vote for me if you like it), please click here.
Thanks for checking it out!

Liz Lomax's 3D Blog
Liz has started a new blog called "Working in the 3rd Dimension", in which she profiles new and established artists and illustrators working in 3D. The first artist she profiled is Chris Walsh out of the UK. His work is really amazing!
Here's a link to the blog. Enjoy!

New 2D work!

This is something I'm really proud of... I think it represents a style that I would like to pursue, which is really exciting for me. This is a pen and ink piece that I coloured digitally. The colours are a lot different from what I would have chosen in the past (I don't think I've even ever done anything that involved the colour yellow!) It's called Foggyhead and it comes from an idea I had after a summer night of possibly drinking a little too much. Enjoy!

Maryland/DC/Virgina Face Painter!
I just wanted to let everyone know that I am available for face painting at company picnics, birthday parties, holiday parties, and anything else you can think of in the MD/DC/VA area. I use professional make up artist paint and have been working for About Faces Entertainers as a face painter for a while now.
My rates are reasonable and I have many happy clients! Below are some samples of my work. If you would like to book me for a party, please go to the About Faces website and email them or contact me directly at sophy.tuttle@yahoo.com. Most dates in October are booked now, but November and December are still wide open!

Some Sketches of England
I just got back from a big long trip to England and France to see my family. I had an incredible time and I wish I was still there with them! It's also good to be back though, and I'm going to start a new project soon. I came back feeling refreshed and ready to get to work. Below are some sketches from the plane and a drawing of Bart, my cousin's lovely little kitty, who passed out on the piano just long enough for me to get a few details.

I took a trip to Boston
This weekend, I took a 10 hour overnight train ride from Baltimore to Boston, and then back again. It was complete with drunk soccer fans from the one Chelsea game ever to occur in the US, screaming children, and a dining car that closed before 10. Needless the say the actual travelling was not a good time.
Once I got there, however, I got to see my best friend from my childhood get married, go to my college room mate's graduation party, and see my parents for the first time in 6 months. So, all in all, I think it was worth the 20 hours of agony.
On the trip back, in between working on freelance projects and catching up on back issues of Scientific American from my dad, I managed to do this little sketch of myself from the reflection in the window. Looking forward to doing it all again in a few weeks...

Monopoly floor
Back when I used to work for an event design company, I was asked to make a 30' by 30' Monopoly themed dance floor out of linoleum. Recently, one of my lovely co-workers dug up some production and final product pictures and sent them along to me. Since the dance floor was destroyed the night of the event (although most of us kept a battered section of it), I thought I would share some images.
The floor took about three weeks of on and off working on it. I painted the mint green base and all the lines and colors, while the words and symbols are vinyl laid by the other talented members of the team. I painted the center logo with the help of a mask. The Chance and Community Chest cards were my favorite part. I painted the rectangles, then used the airbrush to make the shadows so they looked like they were really stacked.
